Painterly Pears and Welcome Back!

Hello Again, Stamping Friends!

Needless to say, quite a lot has transpired since I last posted a blog entry here.  I have been making (and sending) handmade cards with Stampin' Up! products all of these years, but just haven't had time to keep up with a blog.
So...
I'm taking a new approach and will do my very best to post a new card each week.  I also would like to continue my "One Stop Blog Hop" each week.

But for now, here is one of my most recent cards using the newly released Painterly Pears Suite Collection. (166159)

I created this card while participating in an event called Mystery Monday Stamping.  Here is a link to Sharon Armstrong's Mystery instructions so you can make your very own card.  I will call this technique a "Center Accordion Fold Card."

Enjoy everyone.  It feels good to be back.

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's good to be back today with my weekly feature:
"Sunday's One Stop, Blog Hop."

I have searched the world wide web for some of my favorite hand stamped cards, which I hope will inspire you to stamp as much as they have me.

There are so many talented folks in the paper crafting world!!  I hope you enjoy my picks for today.  :-)

Blessings and Happy Stamping,

Friend Friday

Hello Again, Stamping Friends!

I have a card to share with you today made by my dear friend and stamping buddy, Maggie.  She's rather new in the cardmaking/rubber stamping craft, but she's no newbie to art.
She has an eye for clean, crisp design and color and I think this card shows her emerging paper crafting talent perfectly!
I know you'll enjoy her designs as well.  ;)

Welcome, Maggie!

From My Heart (126557)

Newborn King in Green and Blue

Good Thursday, Stampers!
I'm posting my card today based two different challenges....an old color challenge over at  Color Throwdown

and the current sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.
As you know, I really enjoy playing along with challenge blogs.  It's been such a great help to me because I'm not naturally gifted in design, color or composition.  I've needed practice and these challenges have really helped in getting my creative juices flowing, and have given me a place to start.  If you're like me, you might find this will help you, too.  :-)

My card:

I like the Lucky Stars embossing folder and thought it would be a simple background for the nativity scene in The Newborn King stamp set.  (I love this set!) I embossed the star with silver embossing powder to add a little zip, but still keeping the card clean and simple.  In the same way, I added the silver background circle because I liked the illusion of a halo. The rhinestones in the sky add a little sparkle and light for a special birth!  :-)
I hope you enjoyed today's card.  Have a great day and try to get some creative time this weekend and maybe even play along with a challenge blog!
Be blessed,
barb

One Stop, Blog Hop!

Hello Stamping Friends,

Here are my picks for this week's One Stop, Blog Hop.  I hope you find as much inspiration and beauty in these artist's cards as I have.  Goodness, I've had a very hard time choosing my favorites!

My life has been just crazy enough to keep me out of my stamp room for quite a while.  I did prepare and hold a stamp camp this past weekend, but I haven't had time to just stamp for pure pleasure.

Hoping to carve out a little time for that later this week.  I'll see you then.
Blessings!

Oh, by the way, can you tell I was in a bit of a blue mood?  :-)

Peace On Earth

Hello Stamping Friends!
Here today with a card inspired by the creative folks over at Merry Monday, which is an ongoing Christmas card challenge.  If you love Christmas cards as much as I do, then go take a peek at their blog and join in the fun!

Today's card uses another of my favorite stamps from the SU Holiday Catalog, called Nature's Peace.  I love this image and wanted to make it special, as it is the total focus of the card.  So, I embossed it with a combination of Iridescent Ice and Early Espresso embossing powders.  I'm not sure the pretty shimmer shows very well in my photos, but it's the perfect touch in real life!
I hope you enjoy this card and plan for some creative time this weekend.

Happy Stamping,
barb

My card:

I also wanted to make the card special in and of itself, so I chose to make an easel card.  I used Under The Tree dsp for the card, and the envelope as well.  This design really puts the card on display for the recipient.  ;)
Easel Card Tutorial at: Splitcoast Stampers

Inside:
Right after I ink distressed the cardstock, I sprinkled Iridescent Ice over the still slightly wet edges, and what stuck, I heated.  It's a subtle, sparkly touch.

A little detail:  My favorite~~pearls.
