Celebrate for TSOT #221 Color Challenge

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today's post is a rather masculine birthday card based on a color theme from Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday.  To be honest, this color combo freaked me out a little bit at first glance, and then I just let it roll around in my head for awhile and did some deep breathing LOL!   It's called a challenge for a reason, right?  :-)

My sketch inspiration was from this card:

I thought it was so cute that it made the top picks for my blog feature:  Sunday's One Stop, Blog Hop a few weeks ago.

Here is the color challenge for this week:

And here is my take on the scheme:

For me, it's a bold statement of color:  I used the new Cucumber Crush, Night Of Navy, and Daffodil Delight
with a few navy candy dots for a little visual interest, and to mimic the stamped dots in the background.

It's a very quick and easy card that could even translate into a neat personalized graduation card.  Just used the graduates school colors!

I hope you've enjoyed today's post and have a chance to try this color challenge this week.  Above all, take a deep breath and have fun!!

Happy Stampin'

 I followed the
CAS (Clean and Simple) birthday challenge, Create With Connie and Mary sketch challenge, and
Paper Players masculine challenge.

Ink:  Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit
Paper:  Early Esspresso, Sarhara Sand, Island Indigo,
*SoHo Subway
Pretties:  Linen Thread
Accessories:  Woodgrain embossing folder, sponges, 2 3/8 scallop circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, stampin' dimensionals
*new product

On a personal note:  It's been a very emotional and challenging week here in Oklahoma City and the metro area.  Tornadoes ripping through our state on Sunday and Monday changed many lives and left in it's wake, piles of debris and much sadness.....BUT, Oklahomans are a very unique group of people; resilient and hopeful.  If you think of those who have been affected by these tornadoes, please pray for them and for all of us as we serve and give in anyway we can to bring about healing and rebuilding.
God Bless,

She Believed...

Two cards in one night, you ask?  Yes!  The physical inspiration for this card comes from this sketch at  Create With Connie And Mary.  The emotional inspiration has come from two of my good friends, Ellen and Glynis.  (Check out their inspirational and artistic blogs) They have believed in me in so many ways, for so many years; starting this blog and creating my own cards was just two of them.  So, this card is for them.  Thank you for believing I could do this.
You even made a believer out of me.
Love you both!

 Here is their sketch:

Stampin' Supplies:

Stamps:  Feel Goods
Ink:  Cajun Craze, Soft Suede
Cardstock:  Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla, Comfort Cafe dsp
Accessories:  Bigz Square Scallop Die
Pretties:  Designer Naturals Buttons
(I used a very narrow strip of midnight muse cardstock for the button holes.  Originally learned this from Mary Fish)
